“Dr. Cue”® Goes to Russia & Returns!!!

Over 100 people were involved in the total process and logistical challenge of the “Dr. Cue”® and “Ms. Cue” visit to Russia. Arkadiy’s dedication to detail, along with his special connection to contacts within the Academy and Russian State of Billiards made everything possible. Arrangements had to be made for visas, passports, lodging, plane agendas, special transportation needs from site to site, meal reservations, show and clinic time appointments, sightseeing venture agendas, and money transaction. From May of last year (1998) to March of this year, the fax and phone lines for communications were very busy between Tom and Arkadiy. A “sportive relations” visa was arranged just weeks before departure deadline… due to some last minute changes. This type of visa is extremely rare, but was necessary to avoid a nearly one year delay with normal visa business arrangements. Two of Arkadiy’s assistants at the Russian State Academy of Physical Culture (Education) helped to speed this process through the Russian Foreign Ministry. Both Arkadiy and Tom had deep beliefs that nothing short of a miracle created this special trip, especially with tensions mounting around the Yugoslavian crisis. (Note: The bombing started on the second day of their visit to Moscow.) Tension never entered the travel experience within the state or the billiard community, even with all the worldwide attention to Russian approach to NATO action. Tom and Arkadiy credit this smooth sailing and fluent process to an open door from above with divine protection. In addition, most billiard community players, regardless of cultural and personal belief to political position, just want to live in peace and friendship with each other. The language of billiards has no barriers and/or walls of division. It speaks the same theme of love, friendship, and life’s freedoms.

Marty is Tom’s business assistant in all their travels and professional agent for the booking of “Dr. Cue’s”® entertainment shows, clinics, and other venue contracts. She has been the key person in the development of their career work and gets Tom (“Dr. Cue”®) to the table on time!! Tom is known in the entertainment field as “Dr. Cue”®, B.D. or a doctor of Billiardology. Aside from his entertainment profession since 1987 fulltime, he teaches professionally in many venues within the billiard industry. He is a Billiard Congress of America Certified Advanced Instructor. He also has direct links to master/honorary/certified academies throught the United States, including the Cuesport College in Peoria, Illinois – a Master BCA Academy; The Monk Billiard Academy in Nashua, New Hampshire – for stroke and special 101 shot identification technique; The Magic Billiard Academy in Newfane, New York; and numerous other Academy and University study programs, working with other certified and master instructors. He has authored the best selling book Rack Up A Victory for billiard instruction, five corresponding videos of same name for fundamentals, and “Diamond System” study, plus “Artistic” instructional cards named Banks, Tricks & Kicks. He has also created and directed “artistic pool” competitions at all levels worldwide.
